    • Two complete sections on the Cenomanian/Turonian transition are discussed', showing their possible proposal as reference sections in the definition of the base of the Turonian stage. The Cassis section is located at Bouches-du-Rhône, south-eastern France, while the Ganuza section is located at Navarra, northern Spain. Both sections show a more complete sedimentary record than the sequence at Pueblo, Colorado (USA), proposed as a Global Boundary Stratotype Section for the base of the Turonian stage. Cassis and Ganuza sections record many of the biostratigraphical data used to define the Cenomanian/Turonian boundary: ammonites, inoceramids, planktonic foraminifera, ostracods and nannoplankton. The distribution of two of them (ammonites and inoceramids) is herein discussed. Ammonite species in both sections are quite different and thus the relationship between ammonite and inoceramid zones in each section deserve different remarks.
