The beach system of El Inglés and Maspalomas (South Gran Canaria) has been studied considering two aspects:\) grain-size characteristics, based on the analysis of beach samples collected seasonally during one year at different locations, and \\) the shoreline evolution during the last four decades, based on aerial photographs. Samples analysis has allowed to characterize the main grain-size properties of sediments, most of them well sorted fine sands, as well as to identify sediment transport patterns at Punta de la Bajeta and surrounding areas. This has proved to be the most dynamic sector along the beach system, in which the coastline has changed back and forward around 300 m. Both sides of this sector, either at El Inglés and Maspalomas beaches, are not so dynamic, and shoreline changes are some 50 m. No erosional nor accretional trend has been detected.
