Resumen de Programa educativo participativo centrado en el paciente de cirugía oncológica colorrectal

  INTRODUCCIÓN: El cáncer colorectal (CCR) es uno de los más prevalentes del mundo. El diagnóstico precoz y la adherencia a formas de vida saludables es muy importante. Para conseguirlo la información es esencial; sin embargo, el paciente con CCR no está bien informado. Esto es debido, fundamentalmente, a estancias hospitalarias cada vez más cortas con menos tiempo para poder formar al paciente y a la sobrecarga de los profesionales. También hay cuestiones del interés de pacientes y familiares que pueden pasar inadvertidas a los profesionales. Por tanto, la información a estos pacientes es un campo de trabajo colaborativo OBJETIVO: conocer las necesidades educativas de los pacientes con CCR y desarrollar y probar una intervención educativa que cubra esas necesidades MÉTODO: El estudio se llevará a cabo en tres fases usando investigación por mezcla de métodos donde los datos de cada fase sirven de entrada a la siguiente. En la FASE I se recabarán las necesidades de información de los pacientes usando un cuestionario. En la FASE II se realizarán grupos focales de pacientes, profesionales y familiares para crear una herramienta informativa a medida, el libro InfoCCR. En la FASE III se probará el InfoCCR con un estudio de intervención de dos grupos. La variable de resultados principal será la variación de conocimientos de los pacientes.

  RESULTADOS: las necesidades educativas de los pacientes se incrementan con la edad sobre todo en mujeres, se decrementan ante mayores niveles académicos. Con InfoCCR, todos los pacientes incrementaron su nivel de conocimientos.

  CONCLUSIÓN: los pacientes pueden expresar sus necesidades de información sobre CCR y colaborar en crear una herramienta que contribuya a satisfacer esas necesidades. La información usando InfoCCR fue más efectiva que la práctica estándar en el nivel de conocimientos, no sólo en la enfermedad sino en estilos de vida más saludables

  NTRODUCTION: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most prevalent pathologies in the world. Early diagnosis and compliance with healthy living conditions are important. To achieve this, information is essential. However, the patient with CRC is not well informed. This is, fundamentally, because hospital stays are becoming shorter and with less time for patient information and that professionals attend to too many patients. In modern healthcare systems, there is little time available to patient information. In addition, there are issues of interest to patients and their family that may go unnoticed by professionals. Therefore, it is ideal to work collaboratively.

  OBJECTIVE: to meet the educational needs of patients with CRC and develop and test an educational intervention to address those needs.

  METHODS: This study is carried out in three phases, with the methodological basis of Mixed-Methods research. The result of each phase serves as input to the next. PHASE I: information needs about CRC, to cope with the disease in the best possible conditions, are tested using a questionnaire. PHASE II: Focus Groups of patients, family and professionals create an educational tailored tool; a book called InfoCRC. PHASE III: InfoCRC is tested, using an intervention study of two groups. The main outcome variable was the level of knowledge and its modifications using the book or not.

  RESULTS: The educational needs of patients increase with age and female gender and decrease with education level.

  With InfoCRC, all the patients increase their level of knowledge CONCLUSIONS: patients can express their learnings needs about CRC. They can, with professionals, create a tool that contributes to coping with the problem of information. Education using InfoCRC was more effective than standard practice, in the level of knowledge; not only in disease issues but in healthier lifestyles
