Regarding to his interdisciplinary scientific production, the article enphasises his contributions in the field of Galician immovable and movable cultural heritage, particularly medieval, and also in prehistory and archeological excavations. It also underlines the scientific nature of his method and his exemplary determination in conservation of the Galician artistic heritage.
At last it explains the intimate and collaborative relation José Villaamil had with Murguía.
