  • The paper aims at focusing on the iconography of Maria Amalia of Saxony as a young, daughter of the elector and king of Poland Augustus III, and Charles of Bourbon's future wife. By observing paintings and portraits of her successively, compared and related to similar images produced in other European courts, we will try to identify some iconographic types linked to specific periods of the young woman's life. The iconographiy of the future queen of Naples and Sicily will provide an exemplary case study and a paradigmatic reference to understand which could be considered as the iconography of royal princes, still too less explored.
