  • Resumen
    • This paper aims to present the design bases of the architecture developed within the framework of the contract for the Design, Manufacture, Qualification and Installation of the Safety Control System - Nuclear (SCS-N) of ITER.

The mission of the SCS-N at ITER is to protect people and the environment against nuclear hazards through Instrumentation and Control (I&C).

For that aim, the SCS-N provides the means to bring ITER to a safe state, to maintain the plant in that state and to mitigate the consequences of a nuclear incident or accident, by means of the implementation of nuclear safety functions (specific actions that prevent or mitigate radiological hazards).

The design of the system architecture is being developed under the application of standard IEC 61513 and is based on the use of suitable Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) equipment for its use on ITER.
