  • BSR-like acoustic anomalies occur in the continental slope of the Culf of Cadiz in an area where other evidences of gas (pockmarks, acoustic blanking) also exist. These anomalies occur to 360 m water depth and 120 m deep in the sediment column and appear associated to diapir features. The Pressure/Temperature conditions calculated for the location of the BSR-like acoustic anomalies do not exactly correspond with the conditions of stability of gas hydrates, and then anomalous conditions o f high pressures are suggested. It is then considered that diapiric intrusions may locally induce excess pore pressure conditions on the immediately surrounding sediments, affecting then the stability field of the gas hydrate.
