Existen diversos seres mitológicos en todas las culturas del mundo. El dragón es uno de esos seres cuya representación surge en remotos tiempos. Además, se trata de la imagen tomada por China como representación de su poder, arte y cultura, y adorada desde hace miles de años. Este ser mitológico también surgió en Occidente. En la cultura occidental existe una variación a la hora de representar el dragón, en algunos momentos posee un significado negativo y en otros momentos positivo. En cambio, en Oriente, por influencia del taoísmo tiene características ambivalentes al mismo tiempo. En este artículo se va a tratar del tema de la historia del origen del dragón en Occidente y Oriente, y además, del reflejo de este ser mitológico en los cuentos tradicionales de ambas culturas.

There are several mythological myths in different cultures of the world. The Dragon is one of those myths whose representation arises in remote times. And, it is the image taken by China as a representation of its power, art and cultura. It was adored for thousands of years. The Dragon also arose in the Western cultura. We can see differences between these two cultures. In Western cultura, it has a neutral, meaning, and in other times, it has a positive meaning, but sometimes it has a negative characteristic. On the other hand, in Orient, by the influence of Taoism, it has ambivalent aspects. The article will talk about the history and the origin of de Dragon in the West and the Orient; and, in addition, the reflection of this mythological myth in the literary folklore.
