During the Campanian (Upper Cretaceous) a set o f carbonate facies were deposited in theSouth-Pyrenean Basin. The stratigraphic analysis carried out in the campanian materials foundat the aragonese pre-Pyrenees allows us to distinguish two depositional sequences (Sequence 1and Sequence 2) which reflect sea level changes. Both sequences consist o f a rise o f the sealevel (Transgressive System Tract), and then a slow rising and highstand o f the sea level (HighSystem Tract). During Sequence I (earliest Campanian-upper Campanian) the flooding o f thestudied area took place, and a second transgressive pulse during Sequence 2 (uppermostCampanian) gave way to the maximum flooding o f the cretaceous platform. These two sequenceshave been correlated with those proposed by other authors for different Pyrenean areas.
