    En el texto se analiza la experiencia del sufrimiento. No se persigue orientar el acto terapéutico sino tan sólo comprender esta experiencia común y universal. Se distingue entre dolor y sufrir, a la manera de tipos ideales, para mostrar que el sufrimiento no es sólo físico sino que afecta a todo el ser humano, en todas sus dimensiones. Se proponen dos ejes de análisis de esta experiencia: la relación sí-mismo-otro y la relación entre el hacer y el padecer. Todo sufrir y toda expresión del sufrimiento puede ser comprendida en este marco. Pero, ¿el sufrimiento enseña? Para evitar el dolorismo y el sentimentalismo es preferible decir que el sufrimiento “interroga” y “apela”. El sufrir es también un “aguantar” y un perseverar en el esfuerzo por existir. Así queda trazada una fenomenología hermenéutica del sufrimiento.

    The experience of suffering is analyzed in the text. It is not intended to guide the therapeutic act but only to understand this common and universal experience. A distinction is made between pain and suffering, in the manner of ideal types, to show that suffering is not only physical but affects the whole human being, in all its dimensions. Two axes of analysis of this experience are proposed: the self-other relationship and the relationship between doing and suffering. All suffering and all expression of suffering can be understood in this framework. but does suffering teach? To avoid pain and sentimentality it is preferable to say that suffering “interrogates” and “appeals”. Suffering is also an “endure” and to persevere in the effort to exist. This is how a hermeneutical phenomenology of suffering is traced.
