La Huasteca veracruzana es una región caracterizada por su riqueza cultural y lingüística, pero también por estar este legado invaluable, que conforma un especial paisaje sonoro, bajo amenaza debido a distintos factores socioculturales. Sin embargo, en este lugar existen procesos de vitalidad lingüística como el que presentamos en este estudio y que se orienta hacia la práctica de la música tradicional que intentan mantener y fortalecer ese paisaje sonoro característico de la Huasteca. El caso del son de “El canario indígena” es un caso que ejemplifica estas acciones que a partir de la lírica-musical manifiestan un ejercicio consciente de resistencia y lucha por lograr perpetuar, pero también transformar la tradición lírica náhuatl de un modo sustentable en la conservación de la diversidad biocultural, creando elementos que articulan la tradición artístico-cultural, la presencia y uso de las lenguas locales, y los usos y costumbres de las comunidades huastecas.

The Veracruzean Huasteca is a region not only characterized by cultural and linguistic heritage that shapes a special soundscape, but also because of this invaluable heritage is under threat by several socio-cultural factors. However, in this region there are processes of linguistic vitality like it that we are showing in this research and whose intentions of preserving and strengthening that own soundscape of La Huasteca focus on the practice of traditional music. The case of the “Indigenous Canario”, a Huastecan son, sets an example of these actions that through the lyric&music expresses a conscious exercise of resistance and fight for the preservation and for the transformation of the Nahuan lyrical tradition in a sustainable way. In that way the biocultural diversity is conserved by creating elements that put together the artistic-cultural tradition, the presence and use of languages, and the customs and traditions of the communities from La Huasteca.
