Transcurridos varios años desde la aparición del trascendente volumen epistolar objeto de comentario, lapso temporal que ayuda a sedimentar los juicios en torno a obra de tanta resonancia dentro del hispanismo, se lleva a cabo un estudio relativamente amplio (nunca exhaustivo, digo) teniendo en cuenta aspectos múltiples sintetizados en los tres conceptos que presiden el subtítulo del trabajo, materializado este en dos entregas: la presente, centrada fundamentalmente en el denso y expresivo prefacio (págs. 9-68) de los dos responsables de la edición, en los índices auxiliares (págs. 371-392) y en determinados asuntos llamativos, diríamos, más bien «ruidosos»; la siguiente, última, se proyectará hacia cuestiones «rutinarias» o menores de los propios textos epistolares (págs. 69-370; cartas entre 1929 y 1964).

Several years after the appearance of the transcendent epistolary volume subject of comment —time lapse that helps settle judgments about this important work for the Hispanism— is carried out a relatively large (never exhaustive) study taking into account multiple aspects summarized in the three concepts which govern the subtitle of the article, materialized this in two installments: the present, centered mainly in the dense and expressive preface (pp. 9-68) by the responsible editors, in auxiliary indices (pp. 371-392) and certain striking issues that we would say rather «noisy»; the next, the last, will stick «routine» or minor issues about the espistolary texts themselves (pp. 69-370; letters between 1929 and 1964).
