Estrategias de afrontamiento en pacientes diagnosticados con cáncer de mama y el papel del psicólogo

    • The study aimed to identify the different types of coping strategies used by women diagnosed with breast cancer and the role played by the psychologist to deal this problem. Methodology: A literature search was conducted about scientific articles, preferably in journals indexed in databases (EBSCO, Science Direct, Google Scholar), books and some websites. These documents were selected according to their relevance and reliability of sources, trying to choose those which were most recent. Results: It is evident from the literature search, diversity of uses of coping strategies in this population. Among the most used are active and avoidant coping styles, unlike passive styles. Regarding the role of the psychologists was identified the importance in their care functions, promotion, prevention and treatment of various problems that arise during diagnosis and disease development. Conclusion: The study of the various types of coping against cancer allows recognize the important role of the psychologist in the participation of multidisciplinary teams. The coping styles and other psychological variables associated with this health condition require a deep analysis because these influence positively or negatively on the course of the disease.
