Entre lo efímero y lo eterno, lo evanescente

    Este artículo se propone interpretar los resultados de una investigación artística emprendida por un coreógrafo y un artista visual ecuatorianos que vinculan dos lenguajes diferentes y aparentemente tan distantes, la danza y la escultura, en el marco de una investigación de mayor alcance denominada “Teoría de la Forma”.

    1 Los frutos de la investigación demuestran las posibilidades de crear una nueva máquina artística a partir de las relaciones que sus autores, Ernesto Ortiz y Sebastián Martínez, entretejen con ambas formas artísticas, a la que denominaron Vanishing act.

    En este mismo trabajo se analiza las relaciones de la nueva obra de danza-escultura con un espacio arquitectónico emblemático de la ciudad, la antigua Escuela de Medicina, y, especialmente, el contenido filosófico que transmite dicha obra. Nuestra interpretación analiza conceptos como lo efímero, lo eterno y lo evanescente y, sobre todo, sus resonancias en la crisis civilizatoria que afecta a la Modernidad tardía.

    This paper aims to interpret the results of an artistic research undertaken by an Ecuadorian choreographer and visual artist that links two different and apparently distant languages, dance and sculpture, within the framework of a more far-reaching research called "Theory of the Shape".

    The fruits of the research demonstrate the possibilities of creating a new artistic machine based on the relationships that its authors, Ernesto Ortiz and Sebastián Martínez, intertwine with both artistic forms, which they called Vanishing act.

    In this same work, the relationship of the new dance-sculpture work with an emblematic architectural space of the city, the old School of Medicine, and, especially, the philosophical content that transmits this work is analyzed. Our interpretation analyzes concepts such as the ephemeral, the eternal and the evanescent and, above all, its resonances in the civilizatory crisis that affects Late Modernity.
