Entre los años 1876 y 1936, la villa de Bilbao realizó un gran esfuerzo para conseguir unas condiciones higiénicas homologables a las de otras ciudades europeas. Todavía quedan algunos edificios que, si bien son utilizados para fines distintos a aquellos para los que fueron erigidos, son mudos testigos de aquel esfuerzo. Se propone aquí un recorrido “turístico” para visitarlos y conocer su origen.

1876 eta 1936 artean, Europako beste hiri batzuen antzeko baldintza higienikoak izan zitzan, Bilbo hiriak ahalegin handia egin zuen. Nahiz eta gaur egun beste betebeharretarako izan, ahalegin horren aztarnak oraindik ikus ditzakegu hainbat eraikuntzetan -ahalegin haien lekuko isilak, hain zuzen ere. Leku horiek ikusteko eta beraien jatorria ezagutzeko, ibilbide “turistiko” bat aurkezten da lan honetan.

Between 1876 and 1936, the city of Bilbao made great efforts to achieve hygienic conditions comparables to other European towns. Although used for purposes other than those for which they were originally created, there still remain some buildings that are silent witnesses of those efforts. This paper proposes a city tour to visit them and know their origin.
