El presente trabajo ahonda en la estructura aspectual o Aktionsartde los llamados causativos emocionales del español, tales como asustar, inquietaro molestar. Defiendo la hipótesis deque, tanto en su variantetransitivacuanto en la construcciónpronominal (se), estos verbos exhiben el comportamiento del ‘logro compuesto’ (Fernández Lagunilla y De Miguel 1999, 2000). Así lo sugiere el conjunto de diagnósticos aspectuales,que aplico a datos de corpus. La hipótesis depende crucialmente de que el concepto de causa se deslinde de las propiedades eventivas de los verbos, como se ha argumentado en trabajos recientes y como también se verificaráexaminando los empleos estativos de los causativos emocionales.

The present work investigates the aspectual structure of the so-called emotional causatives of Spanish, such as asustar‘frighten’, inquietar‘trouble’ ormolestar‘bother’. I defend the hypothesis that, in the transitive variant as well as in thereflexive construction (se), these verbs exhibit the behavior of ‘composite achievements’ (Fernández Lagunilla y De Miguel 1999, 2000). My demonstration involves a variety of aspectual proofs,which I applyto corpus data. Crucial to the hypothesis is the recognition that the notion of cause has to be separated from the eventive properties of verbs, as argued in recent publications, and as an inquiry intothe stative usesof the emotional causativeswill confirm.
