Resumen de La "Espada sagrada" de Alonso Remón: método para enseñar a los nuevos predicadores

Rafael Massanet Rodríguez

  • The study of sacred preaching often focuses on the study of the sermon as the tool of ideological and cultural diffusion of both the author and the period in which they are circumscribed. However, the study of the different materials arising from the hands of well-placed preachers is equal or more interesting to understand the mechanisms that go from the study of the sacred texts to the pulpit. Thanks to this, not only will we be able to know this process, but also the thinking behind each final production, as well as the motivations, not only of each preacher but also of the religious order to which they belong. This is the case of Alonso Remón, playwright and preacher who, despite being more unknown today, in his time enjoyed great recognition, as witnessed by contemporaries such as Lope de Vega or Cervantes. The main characteristic of Remón’s religious discourse is, first of all, the study of the sacred texts to know the matter with which the preacher must work and, second, to avoid the excessive ornamentation, both rhetorical and gestural, that characterized the preaching Of the Baroque. Remón intends, with that Espada sagrada, to battle against the excesses and to give the necessary weapons to those who seek to spread the word of the Lord.
