Adaptación del niño a la consulta odontológica

    El artículo se refiere al manejo de la conducta del niño al inicio de su consulta dental, con el fin de armonizar la relación niño-odontólogo-padres, y promover así actitudes positivas del paciente hacia la práctica odontológica.

    Este trabajo es el resultado de consultas bibliográficas de autores como: López Jordi, Magnusson, Mc-Donald y Pinkhan; especialistas en materia odontológica, a través de las cuales se pudieron deducir las diferencias significativas entre las distintas causas del comportamiento del niño en la consulta odontológica.

    Se detallan las variables que influyen en la conducta del niño al inicio de su tratamiento odontológico como son: el ambiente físico del consultorio, el odontólogo y su personal asistente, los padres, el niño y la primera visita al odontólogo.

    También se mencionan las técnicas básicas que facilitan al odontólogo el tratamiento clínico del paciente infantil, que permiten proporcionarle un ambiente acogedor y una relación afectiva y cariñosa, sobre la base de un abordaje psicológico realizado con conciencia, honestidad y criterio objetivo, además de tratar de lograr una adecuada comunicación entre el niño y el odontólogo.

    The article is refereed to the handle of the behavior of children at the beginning of his o her dental visit, with the proposal of get harmony in the relation child-dentist-parents, and to promote positives aptitudes toward the dentistry practice.

    This paper is the result of bibliographic consults of authors like López Jordi, Magnusson, Mc-Donald and Pinkhan, specialists in dental matter, throw which was possible to deduce the significant differences between the distinct causes of behavior of the child at the dental consult.

    The variables that influences on the behavior of the child in the process of dental attention are detailed: the dentist office surrounding, the dentist and his or her team, the parents, the child and his or her first visit to the dentist.

    Also are mentioned, the techniques that make easier to the dental the infant patien´s clinic treatment, that let the dentist to give to the patient a welcoming surrounding and an affective and lovely relationship, based upon conscientious psychological aboarding, honesty and objective criteria, additionally an appropriate communication between the child and the dentist.
