  • Resumen
    • The article discusses research on the first human beings who colonized North America, examining archaeological finds, research on genetics, and geological surveys which indicates that there may have been people in the Americas before the Clovis people. Archaeologist Michael R. Waters is excavating a site at Buttermilk Creek, Texas and has found pre-Clovis stone tools, while genetic studies on haplogroups indicate that Native Americans are related to the peoples of Siberia. Archaeologist Jon M. Erlandson discusses the coastal route theory, which proposes that early humans traveled by sea to Beringia and as far south as Chile, while geologist Kennedy Munyikwa discusses the ice-free corridor theory.
