  • The author reflects on the public health issues related to access to uncontaminated water. Water is required for various uses including drinking, hygiene, sanitation and agriculture. Over one billion people have no access, or limited access, to safe drinking water which plays an important role in the transmission of communicable diseases and the occurrence of regional conflicts over resources.
