El lenguaje de la educación: más allá de lemas y metáforas

    En el mundo de la educación predomina una perversión del lenguaje que consiste en el uso habitual de conceptos dudosos que sirven para encubrir la realidad en vez de descubrirla o interpretarla; quien así lo hace, no tiene legitimación técnica fundada en el conocimiento de la educación, pero suele ampararse en legitimación de procedimiento, por oportunismo institucionalizado y consenso. Se han adoptado y legitimado definiciones tramposas, y casi sin darse cuenta, se han integrado en la jerga gremial y social. Los controles de tendencia que se ejercen por medio de revistas indexadas, la financiación de programas de investigación orientados a intereses políticos y la debilidad y la superficialidad argumental han facilitado la traición moral e intelectual de una parte importante del mundo universitario y la tendencia a nadar a favor de la corriente. La perversión del lenguaje es la expresión visible de esas prácticas.De ese modo se simplifica la realidad y se prescribe la reducción o la disyunción frente a la compleja realidad de la acción educativa concreta. Las opiniones, los lemas y las metáforas se convierten en trampas del lenguaje educativo que impiden comprender la complejidad objetual de la educación.Es una preocupación básica de la Pedagogía como disciplina llegar a comprender la extensión del concepto ‘educación’ y de los conceptos que creamos para explicar y comprender la función de educar.El reto de la Pedagogía es transformar la información en conocimiento y el conocimiento en educación, construyendo diseños educativos y ámbitos de educación. Para ello nos valemos del conocimiento de la educación que proporciona la Pedagogía; un conocimiento que, en última instancia, es válido si sirve para educar. Estamos obligados a definir los rasgos que determinan y cualifican el significado de educación frente a cualquier otra forma de interacción.

    In the realm of education, a perversion of language prevails, consisting of the habitual use of dubious concepts that serve to conceal reality instead of discovering or interpreting it; whoever does so has no technical legitimization based on the knowledge of education, but usually relies on legitimation of procedure, institutionalized opportunism and consensus. Tricky definitions have been adopted and legitimized, and almost without realizing it, they have been integrated into the gremial and social jargon. The trend controls that are exercised through indexed journals, the funding of research programs oriented to political interests and the weakness and superficiality of arguments have facilitated the moral and intellectual betrayal of a significant part of the university world that adapt to the situation . The perversion of language is the visible expression of these practices.

    In this way, reality is simplified and the reduction or disjunction is prescribed to the detriment of the complex reality of the concrete educational action. Opinions, mottos and metaphors become traps of the educational language that prevent understanding the objectual complexity of education.

    It is a basic concern of Pedagogy as a discipline to understand the extension of the concept of 'education' and the concepts we create to explain and understand the function of educating.

    The challenge of Pedagogy is to transform information into knowledge and knowledge into education, constructing educational designs and fields of education. For this we use the knowledge of the education that Pedagogy provides; a knowledge that, in the last instance, is valid if it serves to educate. We are obliged to define the traits that determine and qualify the meaning of education against any other form of interaction.
