¿Qué es la ética militar?

    Formar en valores, en ética y moral militar, conocer los principios que el militar debe respetar como profesional y en el ejercicio de su función, de los códigos en que se suelen recoger aquellos valores y principios, es habitual en los centros de formación castrenses.

    Su tratamiento específico o en el marco de otros saberes es frecuente en publicaciones y medios de difusión especializados.

    Pero es difícil encontrar, sobre todo en España, una sistematización y conceptualización de esa ética aplicada que es la ética militar. Aproximarse a ello es el objetivo del presente artículo, profundizando en las características que conforman su naturaleza, en las razones por las que el militar debe ser competente en las decisiones éticamente fundadas que tendrá que tomar y, como consecuencia, en la necesidad de mejorar los procesos formativos de la ética militar en todos los niveles.

    Teaching in values and military ethics and moral, learning the principles that the military professional has to respect in the exercise of his function, the codes in which those values and principles are usually collected, is a common practice in the military teaching centers.

    Its specific treatment or in the framework of other military knowledge is frequent in publications and specialized media.

    But it is difficult to find, especially in Spain, a systematic and conceptual study of that applied ethics which is military ethics. An approach to that is the objective of the present review, deepening in the characteristics of its nature, in the reasons for which the military must be competent in the ethically founded decisions they will have to take and, as a consequence, in the need to improve the teaching processes of military ethics in every level.
