    El objetivo de este artículo es describir la importancia de la figura del/de la trabajador/a social sanitario en la intervención social durante el embarazo, parto y postparto con el fin de brindar apoyo psicosocial a la maternidad y a la paternidad. Para ello, se realizará un análisis donde se abordarán las funciones específicas del/de la trabajador/a social sanitario/a tanto en el centro de salud de atención primaria como en el centro hospitalario prestando especial atención a los factores sociales. Asimismo, se pretende mostrar la importancia de la atención de los factores psicosociales durante este proceso vital y la necesidad de la figura del/de la trabajador/a social sanitario/a de cara a detectar posibles dificultades que pudieran surgir. Finalmente, se realizará un recorrido por los derechos, beneficios y prestaciones de protección a la maternidad y paternidad, fomento de natalidad y conciliación familiar existentes en nuestro país.

    The aim of this article is to describe the importance of the figure of the health social worker in the social intervention during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum in order to provide psychosocial support to motherhood and fatherhood. This is an analysis where specific functions of the health social worker will be tackled from both primary care health centre and hospital centre putting special attention to social factors. Likewise, it will show the importance of the assistance towards psychosocial factors during this vital process and the need for the role of the health social worker to detect possible difficulties if they should arise. Finally, it will provide a summary of the rights, protection of maternity and paternity benefits, childbirth promotion and family conciliation that exist in our country
