Resumen de La ciència de la salut i la malaltia en el pensament de Descartes

L’objectiu d’aquest article és caracteritzar i reflexionar sobre la concepció que té Descartes de la ciència de la salut i de la malaltia, per tal de valorar la seva vigència i actualitat. Així, en primer lloc s’explica l’estructura de la ciència cartesiana, i el lloc que hi ocupa la medicina. A continuació, es defineix l’objecte de la medicina, i es delimiten el seu abast i els seus límits. Després de caracteritzar la medicina com a ciència de la salut, s’aborda la qüestió de la malaltia, les seves causes i conseqüències, i com prevenir-la i tractar-la. Finalment, es conclou amb una reflexió sobre l’actualitat del pensament cartesià en aquest tema, i es defensa que la ciència de la salut està vinculada no només a la possessió de coneixements sobre el funcionament del cos humà, ans també al coneixement d’un mateix.Paraules clau: Descartes, història de la medicina, unió ànima-cos, malaltia, coneixement d’un mateix.

The aim of this article is to characterize and think on the conception that Descartes has of the science of the health and of the illness, in order to value his validity and actuality. Thus, in the first place it explains the structure of the Cartesian science, and the place that occupies the medicine in it. Secondly, it defines the object of the medicine, and it delimits his scope and his limits. After characterizing the medicine as a science of the health, it addresses the question the illness, his causes and consequences, and how preventing it and treat it. Finally, it concludes with a reflection on the actuality of the Cartesian thought on this subject, and it defends that the science of the health is linked not only to the possession of knowledge on the operation of the human body, but also to the self-knowledge.Key words: Descartes, History of Medicine, union soul-body, illness, self-knowledge.
