El videoarte desde los años 60 se presenta como un medio innovador y transgresor en el contexto del arte contemporáneo. El objetivo principal de este trabajo es, utilizando el eje discursivo de los denominados Cultural Studies, analizar las aportaciones de las artistas que utilizan este medio. Usan la televisión por su rapidez en la difusión, pero al mismo tiempo pretenden crear una cultura viva frente a la industria de los medios de comunicación. En el ámbito conceptual realizan una crítica de la institución arte, redefiniendo el sistema, al unir arte y vida, a través de una puesta en valor de su condición de mujeres.

Video art from the 60s is presented as an innovative and transgressive means in the context of contemporary art. Using the discursive axis of Cultural Studies, the main objective of this paper is to analyze the work of female video artists. They use television in spreading its speed but at the same time trying to create a living culture industry against the media. At the conceptual level, they perform a critique of the art institution, redefining the system to unite art and life, through an enhancement of their status as women.
