    Se cumplen cincuenta años de la ofensiva que cambió el curso de la guerra de Vietnam. En un momento en el que las fuerzas de EE. UU. anunciaban una inminente victoria, el fulgurante ataque general de las fuerzas comunistas a los principales núcleos urbanos de Vietnam del Sur deshizo tamaña ilusión, sacudiendo los cimientos del Alto Mando aliado en Saigón. Washington había caído en la trampa de Hanói, y si bien los objetivos que este último pretendía alcanzar no se materializaron, la Ofensiva del Tet ahondó profundamente en la sangría militar y logística norteamericana, consiguiendo afectar al rumbo de la propia política estadounidense, así como movilizar al grueso de su opinión pública en contra de la guerra.

    The present year marks the 50th anniversary of the Tet Offensive. The sudden communist attack against the main South Vietnamese urban centers turned the tables in a conflict in which the US forces were already announcing an imminent victory.

    Washington fell into Hanoi’s trap, and even although the main goals the latter attempted to achieve in the campaign were not obtained, the Tet Offensive did inflict a considerable damage in the American logistic and military nightmare, managed to affect the course of the US politics and succeeded at pitting the majority of its public opinion against the war.
