Nuevas rutas de trabajo académico mediante el uso herramientas digitales

    Se observa un creciente cambio de rol en el flujo del manejo de las referencias científicas (Favaro & Hoadley, 2014; Kink, et. Al., 2009). El investigador requiere trabajar de manera exhaustiva con referencias y la elaboración de una bibliografía que recopile información relevante respecto del constructo que se investiga. No solamente están cambiando los hábitos (Liu, 2005), también se han ido modificando los formatos de las referencia. El autor científico debe dar un formato apropiado a éstas, aplicando un determinado estilo de citas. Se argumenta que el uso de herramientas digitales, permiten mejorar el uso de la revisión de la literatura y el proceso de escritura mismo Al examinar la existencia de estudios sobre el uso de este tipo de herramientas, se detecta una brecha importante, no existen estudios suficientes que permitan conocer el uso y preferencias de los estudiantes de posgrado y los investigadores.

    En este estudio exploratorio, se examina el uso y las preferencias de herramientas y aplicaciones de la Web de los estudiantes de posgrado e investigadores. Se presta atención especial a las herramientas y aplicaciones que se emplean para realizar la revisión de la literatura, la búsqueda y gestión de las referencias bibliográficas. Se aplicó un cuestionario que incluyo preguntas que permitieran poder analizar lo que está ocurriendo respecto al uso y preferencia de determinadas herramientas y plataformas. La mayor parte de los participantes fueron estudiantes de posgrado e investigadores en el campo de las ciencias sociales. Por lo tanto, las conclusiones del estudio ilustran las tendencias de uso en esta área.

    A growing role change is observed in the flow of the management of scientific references (Favaro & Hoadley, 2014, Kink, et al., 2009.). The research requires working comprehensively with developing references and bibliographies to collect relevant information about the construct being investigated. They are not only changing habits (Liu, 2005), but also there is a change in the reference formats. The scientific author must give an appropriate format to them, applying a certain style of quotation. It is argued that the use of digital tools allow better use of the review of literature and the writing process itself.

    In examining the existence of studies on the use of such tools, a significant gap is found, there are not enough studies to know the use and preferences of graduate students and researchers.

    In this exploratory study, use and preferences of tools and Web applications from graduate students and researchers are discussed. Special attention is paid to the tools and applications that are used to perform the literature review, research and management of references. A questionnaire, which included questions that would be able to analyze what is happening regarding the use and preference of certain tools and platforms, have been applied. Most of the participants were graduate students and researchers in the field of social sciences. Therefore, the study's findings illustrate usage trends in this area.
