Versiones, traducciones y recepción del tipo ATU1450: "Die Kluge Else" de los hermanos Grimm

    Elsa la lista es un cuento de los hermanos Grimm poco conocido y con diversas interpretaciones, vinculado al tipo ATU1450. En algunos países europeos guarda relación con los llamados `cuentos de bobos´, si bien existen diferencias en el contenido y frecuentemente en la continuación del relato. En este trabajo comparamos el texto de los Grimm con algunas de estas versiones -que pudieron estar originariamente emparentadas-, así como con la traducción que publicó la editorial Calleja, para indagar su sentido originario y posterior recepción. Además, ofreceremos la curiosidad de un refrán castellano difundido en los siglos XVI y XVII que también puede clarificar el significado de esta pintoresca historia.

    Clever Elsie is a barely known story-tale by the Grimm brothers, which is linked to the ATU1450 type and counts with diverse interpretations. Although the tale is related to the `noodle tales´in some European countries, differences in the content and follow-up of the story in its different versions make it depart from them. In order to investigate the original meaning of this story-tale and reception, this paper compares the Grimm’s original text both with some European versions to which this tale could have been initially related and with the Spanish translation published by Calleja. Finally, it is also suggested that a Castilian proverb from the 16th and 17th centuries can contribute to clarify the original meaning of this picturesque story.
