Este trabajo pretende comparar dos actores vinculados al terrorismo islamista a lo largo de la historia. Por un lado la histórica Secta de los Asesinos, un grupo que actuó en los siglos XI y XII llevando a cabo acciones violentas en los actuales territorios de Irán, Irak y Siria. Por otro lado, el actual Estado Islámico, conocido grupo terrorista que a día de hoy sigue tratando de conservar su califato en la misma región y que intenta expandir el terror por todo el mundo.
Se analizarán las características comunes y las diferencias entre ellos, tratando de establecer paralelismos y poniendo el foco sobre las relaciones históricas entre oriente y occidente, especialmente cuando la violencia y el miedo son las herramientas para intentar someter a la población de ambas zonas.

This research tries to compare two actors linked to the jihadist terrorism all along the history. On the one hand, the Assassins Sect, an organized group who acted in the 11th and 12th centuries, using violent actions in the current territories of Iran, Iraq and Syria. On the other hand, the Islamic State, a well-known terrorist group who, nowadays, is fghting to preserve his caliphate in the same region and trying to expand its terror all around the world.
Similarities and differences between both groups will be analyzed, trying to fnd parallels and focusing on the historical relations between the East and the West, especially when violence and fear are the tools to subjugate the population.
