Vives al De Civitate Dei de S. Agustín, nos presenta al humanista valenciano como un defensor incondicional de las nuevas propues- tas culturales que el humanismo propugna frente a la postura de los escolásticos. Tanto aquí como en In Pseudodialecticos Vives defiende una lectura genuina de los textos a analizar, subrayan - do el papel imprescindible de la competencia que el comentarista debe tener en el conocimiento de la Lengua Latina. Incluimos un análisis del De veteribus y analizamos algunos textos que funda - mentan las opiniones del humanistas valenciano

The De Veteribus Interpretibus , one of the introductory texts included in the different editions of the Commentaries of JLVives to De Civitate Dei de S. Agustín, presents the Valencian humanist as an unconditional defender of the new cultural proposals that Humanism advocates against the position of the scholastics. Both here and in In Pseudodialecticos Vives defends a genuine reading of the texts to analyze, underlining the essential role of the com- petition that the commentator should have in the knowledge of the Latin Language. We include an analysis of the De veteribus and analyze some texts that base the opinions of the Valencian humanists.
