    Por su elevada accesibilidad y por su función central en el transporte público, las estaciones adquieren una gran capacidad estructurante en la ciudad. Como únicos elementos visibles de las grandes redes subterráneas, o accesibles de las redes elevadas, las estaciones se insertan en el tejido urbano produciendo unos flujos de usuarios que atraen actividad y jerarquizan su entorno. Las redes de cada ciudad presentan diferentes modos de organización, desde la cruciforme en Berlín, al eje central en Nueva York, o al anillo periférico y definidor del centro en Londres, y la otorgan una peculiar estructura funcional, jerárquica e identitaria.

    Due to their high/y accessible nature and their central function in public transport, stations take on a large structuring capacity in the city. As the only visible elements of large underground networks oras the only means of access to e/evated or overground systems, these stations are inserted in the urban fabric, producing f/ows of users that attract activity and organise their surroundings. The networks of each city revea/ different types of organisation, ranging from the grid-type arrangement in Berlín, the central axis in New York, or the circular system that defines the centre of London, and which al/ grant these cities a peculiar functional, hierarchica/ structure and identity.
