The authors discuss the occurrence of the two Gastropod species Margarites luciae (Seguenza G., 1876;Gibbula) and Torellia delicata (Philippi, 1844; Cyclostoma) in a sediment sample trawled off Gorgona Island (North Tyrrhenian Sea) at 620 m depth. It is suggested that these specimens are from a Würmian deposit of a white corals (CB) biocenosis. Both species are reported for the first time in this geographical area. It is here suggested that Margarites (Leach) Gray, 1847 is the proper genus for the species rather than Gibbula. “Trochus“ delicatus Jeffreys, 1883 is herein regarded as a junior synonym of it. The troubled taxonomical history of Torellia delicata is briefly resumed and some misleading synonymies in the literature are pointed out.
