    Nel 1989, Giovanni Paolo II, con il Motu proprio “Nel primo anniversario”, istituiva l’Ufficio del Lavoro della Sede Apostolica (ULSA), con il compito di contribuire a far sì che nella particolare comunità di lavoro, operante alle dipendenze del Papa, sia fattivamente onorata la dignità di ciascun collaboratore. Lo Statuto dell’ULSA è stato modificato nel 2009 da Benedetto XVII con il Motu proprio “Venti anni orsono”. Oggi altre modifiche sono intervenute: la composizione del Consiglio è stata adattata al processo di riforma in atto della Curia Romana e sono aumentate le competenze dell’Ufficio, con l’introduzione dell’obbligo del tentativo di conciliazione in tutte le controversie di lavoro.

    In 1989 Pope John Paul II, through the Motu Proprio “On the first anniversary”, established the Labour Office of the Apostolic See (ULSA), with the task of contributing to ensure that the dignity of every employee or collaborator working for the Holy See be respected and guaranteed. In 2009 during the Pontificate of Benedict XVI the ULSA-Statute underwent some modifications (Motu Proprio “Twenty years ago”). Today other adjustments have been made: the composition of the ULSA-Council has been adjusted to the reforms of the Roman Curia and the extent of jurisdiction of the Office has been widened: as a matter of fact, now the ULSA is obliged to try a conciliation in all labour disputes.
