Herencia de la terminología grecolatina en La Parfaicte Methode de Charpentier (1596)

    El metalenguaje gramatical de los primeros textos gramaticales de una lengua vernácula conlleva un estrecho vínculo con la terminología clásica. En un primer estadio de “deslatinización”, las gramáticas del siglo XVI están construidas con metatérminos fuertemente latinizantes y esto no es sino tan sólo la muestra más visible de la transposición epistemológica y metodológica de los presupuestos de la disciplina clásica en las gramáticas nacionales. En este artículo no se sistematizará la conformación del metalenguaje gramatical de las primeras gramáticas del español, es decir, no analizaremos el origen y el proceso de creación de todos los términos. Bajo el título general de “herencia de la terminología grecolatina”, se rastrearán aquellos términos de procedencia latina ―traducciones a partir del griego, en su mayor parte― detectados en La Parfaicte Methode que plantean ciertas dificultades conceptuales en su ajuste a la nueva realidad lingüística (español). Diferenciaremos, por tanto, el mero préstamo terminológico (aislado) del conceptual (insertado en un contexto sistemático). Se trabajará con términos problemáticos en la adecuación descriptiva al español, tales como “voyelles prepositiues” y “subiunctiues”, “declinaison”, “pronom infiny”, “temp aoriste”, “prepositions monosillabes”, “dissillabes” y “trissillabes”, etc.

    The gramatical metalanguage in the first gramatical texts of a vernacular language is closely linked to classical terminology. In a first stage of “delatinization”, XVIth century grammars are built with strongly latinizing metaterms, and this is but the most notorious sign of the epistemologic and metodologic transposition of the principles of the classical discipline in national grammars.

    This article will not systematize the constitution of grammatical metalanguage of the beginning Spanish grammars, that is, we will not analyze the origin and creation process of every term.

    Under the general title “Greco-Latin terminology inheritance” we will search those terms of Latin origin ―translations from Greek, mostly― found in La Parfaicte Methode that raise some conceptual difficulties when adapting them to the new linguistic reality (Spanish language). We shall thus distinguish between the mere terminological isolated loanword and the conceptual one, inserted in a systematic context.

    We shall work with problematic terms in the descriptive adaption of the Spanish language, such as “voyelles prepositiues” and “subiunctiues”, “declinaison”, “pronom infiny”, “temp aoriste”, “prepositions monosyllabes”, “dissillabes” and “trissillabes”, etc.
