    El presente trabajo tiene por objeto describir y analizar la actividad profesional de las mujeres en el ámbito universitario. Se realizará un análisis del sector de población referida, para situar numérica y porcentualmente al personal que desarrolla su actividad laboral en la universidad española.

    Finalmente, el trabajo se centra en las mujeres docentes, aportando datos relativos a su distribución por comunidades autónomas, categorías, intervalos de edad, ramas de conocimiento, problemática y estilos de liderazgo, así como su contribución al desarrollo institucional en la dirección y gestión de las organizaciones universitarias.

    The aim of the present paper is to describe and analyze the professional activity of women in the university system. An analysis of this sector of population will be performed in order to determine their position in both, figures and percentages, for those working in Spanish universities. Finally, the study focuses in female faculty members by bringing data related to their distribution by Autonomous Communities, positions, age range, areas of knowledge, difficulties and leadership patterns, as well as their contribution to their Institution’s development in directing and managing the different areas of the universities.
