  El ámbito del Egeo será el escenario, a partir de los inicios del segundo milenio, de la utilización de unos sistemas de escritura relacionados entre sí y que surgirán en la isla de Creta coincidiendo con la aparición de una sociedad compleja y el nacimiento del estado: la civilización minoica y, en consecuencia, la necesidad de llevar un registro escrito de las transacciones económicas palaciales. Dentro del sistema palacial minoico convivirán dos sistemas de escritura, la jeroglífica cretense y la escritura Lineal A y, de esta última, derivará el tercer sistema de escritura, la Lineal B que sabemos que sirve para escribir una forma arcaica de griego. La Lineal B, será el sistema de escritura utilizado por el sistema palacial micénico, que sustituirá al minoico a mediados del segundo milenio y que se desarrollará tanto en el Grecia continental como en la isla de Creta. En este trabajo explicaremos las características de cada sistema de escritura y los problemas que se nos presentan a la hora de analizar e interpretar los documentos disponibles

  The Aegean from the beginning of the second millennium, and specifically in the island of Crete, will be the scenario of the use of three different writing systems, related between them: Cretan Hieroglyphic, Linear A, and Linear B scripts. The first use of a writing system will coincide with the emergence of Cretan palatial centers and a consequent need for an administrative system. Under the Minoan palatial system, the Cretan Hieroglyphic and the Linear A writing systems coexisted, both remain undeciphered. The Linear B script is an adaptation of former Cretan Linear A, has been deciphered and we know that the language of the Linear B texts is Greek and was used by the Mycenaean palatial civilization, which developed in the second half of the second millennium within the Greek mainland and the island of Crete. In this paper we will explain the features of each system and the problems we face analyzing and interpreting the available documents
