Resumen de La bóveda toroidal del Palacio de Carlos V en Granada: análisis constructivo y estructural

  El toroide que conforma la galería inferior del Palacio de Carlos V en Granada, realizado en fábrica de cantería con perfil carpanel por tranquil, es un sistema estructuralmente autoestable una vez finalizada la construcción. Los empujes al exterior se equilibran con el peso de la masa construida perimetralmente.

  Sin embargo, hacia el interior, la propia forma toroidal, junto al anillo de dovelas que integran el arco plano apeado sobre columnas, equilibra los empujes cuya resultante es nula. Por el contrario, durante la construcción, la estructura es inestable. El cálculo mecánico demuestra la incapacidad del anillo interno para absorber empujes durante el proceso constructivo. Desentrañar este, se convierte en el principal objetivo del trabajo que presentamos, analizando el comportamiento estructural durante y después de la ejecución sobre un supuesto constructivo racional, que tenga en cuenta la economía de medios y la tecnología de la época, con resultados geométricos rigurosos en el intradós de la bóveda

  The torus that forms the lower gallery of the Palace of Charles V in Granada, a mansonry vault with a profile of rampant carpanel arch, is a structurally self-supporting system once construction is completed. Outwardly the vault thrusts are balanced with the weight of the mass built around the perimeter, but inwardly the toroidal shape itself, along with the ring of voussoirs that conform the flat archs propped up on columns, counteract the null resultant thursts. Conversely, during construction, the structure is unstable. Structural analysis shows the inability of the inner ring to resist the thrusts during the construction process. The main objective of the work here presented is the unraveling of the construction process conundrum, analyzing the structural behavior during and after the execution under rational construction asumptions, taking into account the economy of media and technology of the time and with rigorous geometric results in the soffit of the vault.
