Resumen de La investigación en el centro de la historia y de la novela histórica

El trasfondo de este artículo se presenta como una reflexión sobre las relaciones entre la constatación documental del pasado y su recreación a través de la novela histórica. El aprecio del público por la historia ha posibilitado el éxito de la novela histórica ya que, frente a los libros de historia, se muestra más asequible y amena. Historia y novela histórica se revelan como dos formas diferentes de acercamiento al conocimiento del pasado. La historia, de manera científica; la novela, de manera artístico-literaria. Es preciso captar la importancia de la investigación como paso previo a la escritura y, por ello, la historia de la historiografía para detectar la evolución tanto de la historia como de la novela histórica. Se analiza, de manera relevante, la novela histórica como género literario indagando sobre sus características, elementos, técnicas narrativas y clasificación.

This article is, basically, a personal reflection about the relationship between the documentary verification of the past and its recreation by means of the historical novels. The general interest for history has made it possible for the historical novel to become fully successful. The reason is that the last one, compared to the books of history, is, clearly, more entertaining and easily available. History and historical novels present themselves as two different forms of approaching the knowledge of the past: history does it in a scientific way, and the novel in a rather artistic-litterary one.. We have to be aware of the paramount importance of research as a first step before starting writing; and, consequently, the importance of the history of historiography to detect t the evolution of both the history books and the historical novel. Here we analyze, in a special and deeper way, the historical novel as a litterary genre by investigating (=doing research on) its characteristics, elements, narrative techniques and classification.
