Resumen de Alfabetização camponesa: problemas e sugestões

Apesar de que eliminar o analfabetismo no campo supõe transformações sociais globais, pode-se esperar resultados positivos ao se combinarem a extensão e melhoramento da educação primária rural com programas específicos de alfabetização. Estes devem surgir dos interesses reais e objetivos dos grupos camponeses, se inserirem em sua cultura e colocar-se a serviço do fortalecimento de seu poder e de sua autonomia social. A heterogeneidade dos grupos camponeses faz com que a elaboração dos programas de alfabetização deva partir de motivações muito diferentes mas todas elas ligadas com ações mais abrangentes de desenvolvimento e mudanças. Da experiência recente na América Latina, é possível colher sugestões valiosas tanto no que diz respeito a modalidades, como quanto aos subsídios técnicos dos programas de alfabetização. No entanto, tudo isso vai precedido da decisão política de favorecer efetivamente os setores camponeses. É de se esperar que em nossos países se verifiquem condições favoráveis para que essas decisões sejam adotadas.

Although the elimination of iliteracy in rural areas supposes global social transformations, positive results can be expected when the extension and betterment of rural elementary education is combined with specific literacy programs. These should be originated from the real and objective intesest of the peasants foups, be inderted in their cultura and work for the strengtheninf of their power and autonomy. Given the hetogeneity of the peasants groups, the literacy programs start from different motivations, but thet are all related to more global actions of development and change. From the recent Latin American experience valuable suggestions can be obtained both regarding the kinds of programs to be developed and the tecnichal fundaments of the literaty programs. However, all this should be preceded by the political decision of favoring the peasant gropus. It should be expected that in our countries there will be favorable conditions for the adoption of this decision.
