Ficção (re)generativa: o rizoma simbólico em Diary of a Bad Year, de J. M. Coetzee

    Some recent post-modern narratives bring at their core a debate concerning the rescue of the fictional dimension of fiction. Diary of a Bad Year, by J. M. Coetzee is one of these works, and will be the object of our study. The novel partakes of the disruption of the form cultivated by writers since the beginning of the 20th century, however opposes to this formal destabilization with an underground and organizational symbolic texture. In order to explore this texture, we will take into account the thoughts of Deleuze-Guattari about the ‘rhizome’ as a multiple and non-hierarchical structural form. Thus, we concluded that Coetzee’s novel shows what we named ‘symbolic rhizome’, which produces a virtual totality in the work. This totality has its center in the character Anya, who attracts to herself the significations of ‘fiction’ and ‘regeneration’.

    Algumas obras da narrativa pós-moderna recente trazem em seu âmago um debate acerca do resgate da dimensão ficcional da ficção. Diary of a Bad Year, de J. M. Coetzee,  é uma dessas obras, e será o objeto de nosso estudo. O romance participa da desestruturação da forma cultivada por escritores desde o início do séc. XX, porém, contrapõe a essa desestabilização formal uma tessitura organizacional subterrânea, simbólica. A fim de explorarmos essa tessitura, nos serviremos do pensamento de Deleuze-Guattari sobre o ‘rizoma’, como uma forma estrutural múltipla e não-hierárquica. Assim, chegamos à conclusão de que o romance de Coetzee apresenta o que denominamos ‘rizoma simbólico’, que produz uma totalidade virtual da obra. Essa totalidade possui seu centro na personagem Anya, que atrai em si as significações de ‘ficção’ e ‘regeneração’.
