  Este trabajo es un intento más para que se conozca la situación de estas arquitecturas populares antiguas, y para que a través de su conocimiento, se las entienda y se las valore. Así aprenderemos a protegerlas por estas razones, porque explican nuestras raíces, nuestra cultura y la ocupación histórica del territorio, y no solamente porque desaparecen. En la PRIMERA PARTE, intento dar una idea general de lo que significa esta arquitectura de la Sierra, señalando sus valores, sus singularidades, la forma en que se construyeron sus núcleos y edificios, además de afirmar que la única esperanza para su conservación es su consideración como Patrimonio y la aplicación de los métodos racionales y modernos que describimos, cuyas metodologías ya hace tiempo que se han explicitado y experimentado en distintos campos. Incluimos, además, unas tipologías singulares, lavaderos públicos y hornos comunales, que han acompañado históricamente a los núcleos de la Sierra. En la SEGUNDA PARTE, que por razones de espacio aparecerá en el próximo número de estos Cuadernos, continuaremos con la serie de edificios singulares, muchos de los cuales ya han desaparecido, casas, fraguas y molinos harineros, que hemos documentado y descrito suficientemente para que, de esta forma, quede memoria de ellos y podamos, si alguna vez queremos, reconocernos en nuestra historia.

  This work is a new attempt to make the situation of this ancient architecture is known, and that through its knowledge, understand it and value it. So we learn to protect it for these reasons, and because it explains our roots, our culture and historical occupation of the territory, and not just because it disappears. In the FIRST PART, I try to give a general idea about these architectures of the Sierra, indicating their values, their peculiarities and the way these urban nucleus and buildings were constructed, besides to affirm that the only hope for preservation is its heritage consideration, and the implementation of rational and modern methods we describe, whose methodologies have long since been explicited and experienced in different ways. We also include some unique typologies, public laundries and communal ovens, which have historically accompanied the rural communities of this area. In the SECOND PART, which for reasons of space will appear in the next issue of these Cuadernos, we will continue the serie of singular buildings, houses, forges and grist mills, many of which have already disappeared, we have documented and described sufficiently so that this work will be the memory of them and will be the possibility that, if someone wants, to be recognized in our history
