La localidad de Riba de Saelices dejó de celebrar gran parte de su carnaval en la década de los años cincuenta. Los rápidos cambios acaecidos en la sociedad rural de la provincia de Guadalajara se llevaron por delante este tipo de celebraciones.
En el caso de este municipio una de las pérdidas más llamativas fue la representación de la �vaquilla de carnaval� y de los personajes que la acompañaban.
Tradicionalmente el carnaval se iniciaba con el Jueves Lardero y se extendía hasta el Miércoles de Ceniza. El día más celebrado era el Martes de Carnaval, que era la fecha previa a la entrada de la cuaresma. En el año 2016 tras una ardua labor de investigación y de recopilación de los testimonios de los vecinos más mayores que vivieron el apogeo de esta fiesta, se recuperó toda la actividad en torno a estos días de celebración con el único objetivo de perpetuarla en el tiempo con la participación de todo el municipio.

Most part of the Carnival ceremonies were left apart in the village of Riba de Saelices during the 50s. The quick changes occurring in the rural society of the province of Guadalajara swept away all these types of celebrations. In the case of this municipality, one of the most striking loses was the representation of the �carnivalheifer� and the characters that accompanied it. Traditionally, Carnival started with the �Lardero Thursday� and lasted until the Ash Wednesday. The most celebrated day was the Tuesday of Carnival, which was the previous date to the beginning of Lent. In 2016, after a laborious work of investigation and collection of testimonies provided by the oldest neighbors who had experienced the heyday of these celebrations, these activities could be recovered during these days of festivity with the mere goal of perpetuating them in time with the participation of the whole municipality.
