    La pesca vasca ha evolucionado de manera que, en la actualidad, tan solo se capturan media docena de especies, las que tienen mayor valor comercial.

    Ello conlleva al desconocimiento, incluso físico, d e otras especies que, aún hace 30 o 40 años también s e capturaban por las diversas flotas de nuestros puertos en mayor o menor cantidad, con mayor o meno r valor en el mercado. Y por supuesto, también se han olvidado los nombres que nuestros pe scadores daban a esas especies. El objetivo de este trabajo es rescatar esa terminología, en este caso de Bermeo, ya que estaremos recuperando parte de lo más importante de nuestro patrimonio ma rítimo, que es el idioma en el que nuestros hombres de mar se comunicaban: el euskera

    The Basque fishing has evolved so that, at the pres ent, only half a dozen species are caught: those with high the commercial value. This leads to ignor ance, even physical, of other species, that 30 or even 40 years were also caught by the various fleet s of our ports to a greater or lesser extent, with higher or lower market value. And of course, they h ave also forgotten the names that our fishermen gave these species. The objective of this work is t o rescue those terms, in this case of Bermeo, as we will be recovering some of the most important of ou r maritime heritage, which is the language in which our seamen communicated: the Euskera or Basque lang uage.
