    Recent studies show that social presence is a central concept in the online education. The interactions enhance the social presence, characterized by the potential of participation, involvement and visibility of the subjects in relation to themselves, to others and to the environment. This research, of a qualitative approach, aims to identify how the social presence in the collective writing environment Wikispaces happens. The analysis was based on the 3C Model, which was proposed with the purpose of guiding the project and the implementation of collaborative systems. Results show that the awareness element of Model 3C is fundamental to reveal the social presence in a collective space.

    Pesquisas recentes reconhecem que a presença social é um conceito central na educação online. As interações fortalecem a presença social, caracterizada pelo potencial de participação, envolvimento e visibilidade dos sujeitos, em relação a si, aos outros e ao meio. Este estudo, de abordagem qualitativa, teve como objetivo identificar como se dá a presença social no ambiente de escrita coletiva Wikispaces. A análise foi baseada no modelo 3C, proposto para orientar o projeto e a implementação de sistemas colaborativos. Resultados apontam que o elemento de percepção do modelo 3C é fundamental para que a presença social ocorra no ambiente coletivo.
