Santo Ildefonso, Portugal
We cannot address the modern Brazilian poetry without thinking of the great poet Carlos Drummond de Andrade, just as we cannot speak of the modern Portuguese poetry without pronouncing the name and reminding the internal dialogism of Fernando Pessoa, in the plurality of his heterotext. What we will address in this short essay is the personalized validity of the great poet from Minas, put between a certain aspiration to the formal change (in the freedom of a new language) and its understanding as “being in the world” (in the reality of the Brazilian society) and interaction without constraints of any school of thought.
