  Las mujeres por su condición de géneroenfrentan obstáculos para ingresar a la carreracientífica, y se les atribuye falta de interés.Se realizó una investigación en una muestrade estudiantes de tres carreras de la salud,con el objetivo de conocer las expectativase interés de las estudiantes para dedicarsea la carrera científica en comparación consus pares hombres. El interés fue bajo entoda la muestra. Las mujeres mostraronmás interés. Ellas identificaron más obstáculos,las inequidades y desigualdades de géneroaunque pocas los reconocieron,; su mayorobjetivo es producir conocimiento para aportara la ciencia. Los resultados contradicena quienes niegan el interés femenino porla ciencia. Es necesario eliminar los obstáculos,crear consciencia de género y redes de apoyo.

  Due to their gender condition, women face obstacles to get in scientific careers;

  this is usually attributed to their lack of interest. With the aim of determining the interest and expectations of female students towards scientific research in comparison with male students, we performed an investigation in a sample of three different health careers. Female students showed more interest in research than men; they identified more obstacles but few of them associated these obstacles to their gender condition; their primary interest was to produce knowledge. These results are inconsistent with the belief that women are not interested in science. It is necessary to eliminate the obstacles, to create gender consciousness and to create support networks for women who are interested in science
