Resumen
The 'Historia troyana', a text created in the second half of the 14th century, was originally written in Castilian and commissioned by Pedro I of Castile in the last years of his reign (ca. 1365-69). It is an ambitious literary project conceived as a textual and visual alternative to the myth of Troy as it was presented in its predecessor, the 'Crónica troyana' comissioned by Pedro's father, king Alfonso XI. In this paper, we will carry out a detailed study of the composition, disposition and articulation of the interpolations included in the text, which derive from texts created in Alfonso X the Wise's court. This will allow us to prove that the textual models of the 'Historia troyana' were the 'Libro de Troya' and some draft gatherings of the 'General estoria', as well as to describe some of their main features. Further, we will advance in the comparative study of the 'Historia troyana's' two witnesses, a bilingual manuscript (B) and a fragmented copy of the 15th century (Mb), which will lead us to an understanding of the preliminary stage of Pedro's project. Finally, we will return to the Historia troyana's general prologue, closing the circle by finding there additional evidence of the project's genesis.
