Principales problemas bioéticos en la práctica de la terapia ocupacional. Estudio exploratorio

    Objetivo: el ámbito de estudio de la bioética es el comportamiento humano en el desempeño de las actividades biosanitarias. La finalidad de este trabajo fue identificar los problemas bioéticos que más comúnmente se dan en la práctica diaria de la terapia ocupacional por medio de un estudio de diseño exploratorio descriptivo transversal.

    Métodos: se siguió un diseño exploratorio descriptivo transversal para la realización de este estudio. Se obtuvo la opinión de 55 terapeutas ocupacionales del territorio nacional que voluntariamente cumplimentaron un cuestionario sobre detección de problemas bioéticos en su práctica clínica.

    Resultados: el total de la muestra le confirió importancia a la bioética en su actividad profesional. El 78,72% de los terapeutas ocupacionales encuestados detectaron algún problema bioético en su práctica clínica. Los terapeutas ocupacionales de experiencia media fueron los que se encuentran mayor número de dilemas bioéticos (Chi2(55) = 8,649, p=,013). El 89,4% han solicitado el consejo de algún compañero de trabajo para resolver algún problema bioético (Chi2(55) = 9,015, p= ,011).

    Conclusión: los cinco problemas bioéticos más frecuentes y que más inquietud han despertado en los terapeutas ocupacionales encuestados son el respeto hacia el paciente; la limitación o el exceso de servicios y/o tratamientos; la correcta repartición de recursos asistenciales; guardar el secreto profesional y/o respetar la protección de datos y hasta qué punto un terapeuta ocupacional debe hacer uso de medidas de sujeción física o realizar una contención mecánica en el paciente.

    Objective: the field of study of bioethics is human behavior in the performance of bio sanitary activities. The aim of this study was to identify the bioethical problems that are most commonly found in the daily practice of occupational therapy through a descriptive exploratory cross - sectional study.

    Methods: a transversal descriptive exploratory design was followed for this study. The opinion of 55 occupational therapists of the national territory who voluntarily completed a questionnaire on the detection of bioethical problems in their clinical practice was obtained.

    Results: the total of the sample gave importance to the bioethics in his professional activity. 78.72% of the occupational therapists surveyed detected a bioethical problem in their clinical practice. Occupational therapists of average experience were the ones with the highest number of bioethical dilemmas (Chi2 (55) = 8.649, p = .013). 89.4% have requested the advice of some co-workers to solve a bioethical problem (Chi2 (55) = 9.015, p = .011).

    Conclusion: the five most frequent and most disturbing bioethical problems in the occupational therapists surveyed are respect for the patient; Limitation or excess of services and / or treatments; The correct distribution of care resources; Keeping professional secrecy and / or respecting data protection and the extent to which an occupational therapist must make use of physical restraint measures or perform mechanical restraint on the patient.
