Este artículo repasa la vida y obra del marqués de Monsalud y su colección de epigrafía romana y objetos arqueológicos. Analiza las inscripciones árabes de la colección y estudia un ara romana de mármol hallada en Mérida (Extremadura) y usada en el siglo XII para grabar el epitafio de una mujer musulmana con una elegía dedicada a su muerte. Tiene ocho líneas de escritura árabe en relieve y el epitafio se conserva completo. El ara forma parte del lapidario árabe del MAN (N.º Inv. 65007).

This article reviews the life and work of the Marqués de Monsalud and his collection of Roman Epigraphic and Archaeological objects and analyzes the Arab inscriptions in the collection. It studies in detail a Roman marble altar found in Mérida (Extremadura, Spain) which was part of the Monsalud collection. In the 12th century the stone was reused to engrave on it the epitaph of a Muslim woman with an elegy dedicated to her death. The text of the epitaph is preserved complete and consists of eight lines of Arabic script in relief. The ara is part of the Arabic lapidary of the MAN (No. Inv. 65007).
