Resumen de Aristotle on gender in politics I
In Politics I Aristotle espouses the exclusion of women from politics and the public realm. Although he believes in both the biological and the psychological inferiority of women to men, in the Politics his argument is not grounded on either of these claims, but on his assumption that the historical patriarchical Greek household is natural, which makes the distribution of gender roles within it natural, as well. It is this naturalness, coupled with Aristotle's thesis that the natural is ipso facto moral, that provides the philosophical foundation for the debarment of woemn from the public sphere.
